The construction of the “Scarabeo 9” was initiated by Frigstad Discoverer Invest Ltd in 2006, a company founded by the Frigstad group and later acquired by Saipem S.p.A in end of 2007. The “Scarabeo 9” is a rig of the Frigstad D90™ design and will be the most powerful and capable ultra deepwater semisubmersible drilling rig ever constructed, equipped with a dual Ramrig drilling package from Aker Solutions and able to operate in water depths of up to 12,000ft and drilling depths of up to 50,000ft.

FEK was assigned by Xcite Energy to do status and follow up review for Rowan Norway which was under construction in Keppel FELS Shipyard, Singapore. The main objective was to continuously monitor the completion and commissioning progress to ensure timely delivery for the rig. The work was done by sending FES team into the shipyard and attending regular shipyard meeting, visual progress, and witnessing critical commissioning system, such as endurance test. Early identification of problems was to be raised to prevent delayed delivery.

Assigned by Northern Offshore to inspect and, later on, to manage steel replacement program for Drillship “Energy Searcher” in Sembawang Shipyard, Singapore. This was as a follow up project from the previous inspection while the drillship was still in India. The project included development of work packages for steel replacement. This was done by performing UT testing. Further than that, to execute the steel replacement program, a work plan was developed including: access planning, sequence of works, etc.
