The rig was to be used for ONGC, Indian National Oil Company, drilling campaign. However, one of the criteria listed by ONGC required the rig’s Variable Load to be increased significantly. On top of the Variable Load requirement, being selected for the tender, the rig will run out of her structural design lifetime.
Frigstad Engineering Singapore was tasked by Northern Offshore to perform feasibility studies and worked with Class (ABS) to prepare necessary paperworks to proof to ONGC that the rig would be able to comply with Variable Load requirement with an upgrade works.
