Italian drilling contractor Saipem S.p.A acquires Frigstad Discoverer Invest Ltd and shows confidence in the Frigstad D90 design.

On 19th of October 2007 it was announced that Saipem S.p.A has acquired a controlling interest in Frigstad Discoverer Invest Limited (FDIL) - a company established by the Frigstad group of companies in 2005. FDIL is the owner of "SS Frigstad Oslo", an ultra deepwater semi-submersible drilling rig of the Frigstad D90 design currently under construction in Yantai Raffles Shipyard, China.

Saipem S.p.A has later acquired all outstanding shares in FDIL and renamed the rig to "Scarabeo 9"

By taking over FDIL and "SS Frigstad Oslo", Saipem S.p.A has shown great confidence in the Frigstad D90 design and the Frigstad organization.
