Frigstad Engineering appoints new Managing Director in Norway.
We are pleased to announce that Frank Tollefsen has joined Frigstad Engineering to fill the role as Managing Director for its subsidiary in Norway.
Frank Tollefsen brings with him a wealth of experience from design, construction and operation of ultra deepwater drilling units. He has worked with major international drilling contractors since 1986. From 2004 to 2012 he served as Senior Vice President and later COO/Deputy CEO with Ocean Rig ASA, playing a key role in expanding the company’s ultra deepwater fleet from two to six units.
Harald Frigstad, owner and Chairman of the Frigstad Group comments: “The hiring of Frank Tollefsen is a reflection of Frigstad Engineering’s philosophy to design rigs from a truly operational point of view, focusing on efficient drilling operations and logistics solutions. With Frank on board, we will continue the development of our top end rig designs and also strengthen our presence as provider of engineering and project management services to the offshore drilling industry in the European region.”
Frigstad Deepwater Ltd, an affiliate of the Frigstad Group, is currently building two 7th generation ultra deepwater units of the Frigstad D90™ design at the CIMC Raffles shipyard in Yantai, China. The units, designed in‐house by Frigstad Engineering, are scheduled for delivery in Q3‐2016 and Q1‐2017. When delivered, they will be the largest and most powerful semi‐submersible drilling units in the market, with full dual drilling packages from NOV and water depth capacity of 12,000 feet.
