A new and more efficient way of installing offshore wind turbines

Frigstad Engineering has launched a new design for a semi-submersible wind turbine installation vessel. The Frigstad W90 design has been developed to provide a safer and more efficient installation of offshore wind turbines, both for bottom-fixed and floating wind farms. The unit is equipped with a uniqe WindTower lifting and assembly tower, designed by Frigstad Engineering. 

The Frigstad W90 provides a new solutions for assembly and installation of wind turbines, utilizing technology and experience from the offshore drilling industry. The assembly and installation process is based on grip-to-grip handling of wind turbine components which enhances the operating window of the vessel significantly. 

The new design has been well received by industry players and the Frigstad Group is in the process of initiating a project to construct one or more vessels.
